Entry #7

When searching through the vast internet for a comical illustration of Little Red Riding Hood, I stumbled across a goldmine. Although the web is filled with political cartoon strips made for making a statement to the public, my cartoon of choice was strictly for laughs. The social comic I chose follows the scene where Little Red is inside her grandmother's house, describing the characteristics of her new fuzzy grandma. She's listing the large facial features off, and you're expecting the wolf to appear in the next slide of course, as everyone knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood, but the next square is her actual grandmother with the described enlarged facial features. This, unlike the story inflicts a comical twist and personally caught me off guard. The strange looking old woman responds with a witty quip, finishing off this short but hilarious strip. While this comic was strictly humorous, it was beautifully presented, with only 4 boxes, but a whole lot of laughs. The simplistic art style of the illustrator makes the over exaggerated features of the old woman all the more hilarious. The unexpected take on the classic fairy tale was refreshing well executed. I absolutely loved this comic strip and chose it immediately, hoping to share the laughter with others by sharing this through my blog. I hope you can get a good giggle out of it as well!
